Construction has officially commenced on the Ita-Ido to Ido-Ile to Okemesi/Ikoro Junction Road, following approval by the Ekiti State Executive Council.
The 17.425km road project, awarded to Banky Ltd., is expected to be delivered within 12 months.

The project is part of the shared prosperity mantra of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanjiโ€™s administration, designed to connect communities, stimulate trade, and enhance socio-economic development. By linking key settlements, the road will reduce travel time and enhance the movement of goods and services, boost agricultural produce, and expand access to markets. Ultimately, it is expected to revitalize local commerce and create job opportunities along the corridor.

During the project monitoring inspection, the Special Adviser/Director-General, Office of Transformation and Service Delivery (OTSD), Engr. (Dr.) John Moyo Ekundayo, engaged residents on the anticipated impact of the project. He emphasized that infrastructural development is central to the stateโ€™s shared prosperity mantra and urged the community to take ownership of the project.

An elderly resident, who once served as a Supervisory Councillor during the first democratic government in Ekiti State, commended the Governor for remembering the community. He recalled that a section of the road constructed some years ago was abandoned midway and expressed joy that the present administration has now taken decisive steps to reconstruct the entire road.

Engr. Ekundayo also praised the contractor, noting that Banky Ltd. has demonstrated commitment by maintaining steady presence on site, assuring that quality standards will be upheld.

The OTSD inspection team led by the SA/DG included:

Mr. Tunji Aribasoye, Senior Special Assistant on Monitoring & Evaluation
Mr. Toba Fatunla, Special Assistant to the Governor on Service Delivery
Mr. Kehinde Ogunyemi, Personal Assistant to the SA/DG
Mr. Adekunle Omoniyi, Director of Finance and Accounts, OTSD
Mr. Bamidele Adejoro, OTSD Officer

Residents and commuters welcomed the development, applauding Governor Oyebanji for his unwavering commitment to infrastructure renewal and community development in Ekiti State.
