APC Governorship Primary: Pro-Democracy Group Backs BAO, Unveils Grassroots Mobilization, Urges Transparent Process

As preparations intensify for the forthcoming APC governorship election in Ekiti State, The New Broom has unveiled a series of mobilization initiatives designed to strengthen party structures, deepen grassroots participation, and energize members ahead of the contest.

The movement stressed that victory at the polls requires more than strong candidates. It demands a united, well-informed, and actively engaged party base. To this end, a dedicated call center is being established to serve as a hub for sensitization and communication with members across the state. The call center will ensure timely information sharing, encourage participation, and guarantee that no member is left behind in the build-up to the election.

Ward-based sensitization teams are also being deployed across all 177 wards in Ekiti State. These teams will carry the message of party unity and continuity to the grassroots, while also listening to the concerns of members and building confidence in the process.

At the local government level, coordinating and monitoring teams will provide oversight, align activities with broader party objectives, and track progress consistently. Complementing these structures will be a central Situation Room in the state capital. The Situation Room will serve as the nerve center of operations, providing real-time monitoring, coordination, and effective management of activities.

Sequel to a strategic meeting of Local Government Coordinators across the state, The New Broom also resolved to endorse the candidature of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) for a second term in office. The coordinators cited his Omoluabi style of leadership, marked by humility, integrity, respect for party structures, and accessibility to the people, as a refreshing standard in governance. They noted that his commitment to continuity and inclusive development has provided a strong foundation for sustained progress in Ekiti State.

This endorsement, the movement explained, reflects the collective decision of stakeholders at the grassroots who believe that stability, values-driven leadership, and sustained governance remain in the best interest of both the party and the people.

Finally, the movement called on all members to remain engaged, proactive, and united at this critical moment. By consolidating on the gains of governance and standing together, the APC in Ekiti can ensure not only victory at the polls but also continuity and stability for the state.
