The National President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees NULGE, Haliyu Haruna Kankara has sent a strong worded letter to Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji appreciating his various positive impacts and welfare packages for council workers in the state.
Haliyu Haruna Kankara in the letter acknowledged the various consistent support and unwavering commitment of the Governor to the welfare of the local government workers in Ekiti State among which are approval of an additional ₦100 million for the Local Government Staff Loans Board, in addition to the prior recapitalization of ₦200 million, the payment of 100% arrears in the health sector, promotion as at when due just to mention but a few.
The President confirmed that he was reliably briefed of the Governor’s benevolence by the Deputy Secretary General, Comrade Ayo Ajewole; State President, Comrade Oluseyi B. Olatunde and National Public Relations Officer, Comrade Prince Obaleye who are all from Ekiti State
The letter reads:”It is gratifying to acknowledge the efforts you are making in touching the lives of pensioners through allocation of more funds for gratuity payments, as well as your consistent work in fulfilling your campaign promises thereby improving the lives of the residents of Ekiti State by providing socio-economic infrastructure across the length and breadth of the state.
“In the same token, Your Excellency’s directive in respect of the upcoming promotion exercise for 2024/2025 is a significant step towards the career growth of our members which will translate to efficiency and effective service delivery at the grassroots.
“Your Excellency’s generosity in acquiring 49 Toyota Corolla cars for the HLAs in the LGAs and LCDAs and a new Toyota Hiace bus for the Ekiti State NULGE Chapter is a testament to your commitment to easing the mobility challenges faced by local government management staff.
He continued:”Your efforts in appointing three permanent secretaries, seven executive secretaries, heads of local government administration in addition to regular promotion of workers as well as clearing outstanding arrears of salaries and leave bonuses have not gone unnoticed. These gestures are unprecedented and are deeply appreciated. The State NULGE leadership has been consistent in speaking highly of your commitment to improving the working conditions and welfare of local government workers.
“As the gubernatorial election approaches, we stand behind you and celebrate the positive impacts you have made on the lives of our members and the local government service through intentional institution reforms.
“I look forward to personally lead a delegation to Ekiti State with the National Executive Council members to register our gratitude for your continued support and dedication to local government workers and the hospitable people of Ekiti State. This will further reinforce our solidarity with Your Excellency.
He prayed God to continue to assist the Governor to excel in his endeavours and may God bless your leadership.
