The Constituency Office of Rep. Akintunde Rotimi, Jr., Member representing Ekiti North 1 (Ikole/Oye) Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has facilitated the participation of Dr. Ayomide Oluwadamilola Olanipekun, a constituent, for the prestigious Workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Smart Healthcare, taking place from June 4–13, 2025, in Taipei, Taiwan.
The programme, organized by the International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF), aims to build global capacity in leveraging AI and digital technologies to optimize healthcare delivery and improve patient outcomes.
Dr. Olanipekun, a distinguished medical doctor and community health advocate, brings to the workshop over three years of clinical experience and six years of leadership in community-based public health initiatives.
She is currently a Medical Officer at ABUAD Multisystem Hospital in Ado-Ekiti and previously served as Chief Medical Officer at the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation Clinic in Abuja.
A proud alumna of Ekiti State University, she holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree, with a research focus on school health programmes in Nigeria.
Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Olanipekun is widely recognized for her impactful work as Executive Director of the Olanipekun Ayomide Initiative, through which she has facilitated the enrollment of persons living with sickle cell disorder into the Ekiti State Health Insurance Scheme, and pioneered community-driven healthcare data and outreach programmes. She is also a Project Director with Women for Africa, advancing digital advocacy for sexual and reproductive health rights, and has held multiple leadership roles in medical student organizations at both state and national levels.
Dr. Olanipekun currently serves as the Representative of Ekiti North in the Nigerian Youth Parliament, where she continues to amplify youth voices in national policy discussions, particularly in the health sector.
Rep. Akintunde Rotimi, Jr. expressed confidence that her participation in the workshop will not only enhance her capacity to deploy AI-enabled healthcare solutions but also contribute significantly to local policy development and the implementation of smart healthcare technologies in Nigeria.

Dr. Olanipekun has since arrived in Taiwan and commenced participation alongside a select group of senior health professionals and policymakers from around the world. Together, they are exploring cutting-edge AI applications, including robot-assisted surgeries, AI-assisted diagnostics, telehealth innovations, and digital medical data systems.
Her participation is fully funded by the ICDF, including travel and accommodation, and was facilitated through the Taipei Trade Office in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
