NO BANDITS ATTACK ON OKEMESI-EKITI — LCDA CHAIRMAN URGES RESIDENTS TO DISREGARD FALSE REPORTS

My attention has been drawn to reports circulating on social media and some online platforms alleging that bandits attacked Okemesi-Ekiti.

I wish to state categorically that the report is false, misleading and does not reflect the true security situation in our community.

There was no bandits’ attack on Okemesi-Ekiti. Security agencies and relevant authorities have not recorded any such incident within the town.

As the Executive Chairman of Okemesi/Ido-Ile Local Council Development Area (LCDA), I want to assure all residents, indigenes at home and abroad, investors and visitors that Okemesi-Ekiti remains peaceful, safe and secure.

Following the false alarm, I personally led a joint security patrol involving personnel of the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Amotekun Corps, Agro Marshals, local vigilantes and hunters to the forests surrounding the town. The security team conducted extensive combing and surveillance operations, and no trace of bandits or any security threat was found within the area.

Since assuming office, our administration has invested heavily in strengthening security across the LCDA. We have continued to provide logistical and operational support to security agencies and local security outfits to enhance their effectiveness in safeguarding lives and property.

In addition, regular joint security operations and forest-combing exercises are carried out by all security agencies operating within and around our communities. These proactive measures are aimed at preventing criminal activities, monitoring movements within our forests and ensuring that our people can go about their lawful activities without fear.

I therefore urge members of the public to disregard the false report and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of creating unnecessary panic and anxiety among residents.

I also encourage our people to remain vigilant and continue to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that can further strengthen security in our communities.

Let me reassure everyone that the security and welfare of our people remain a top priority of this administration. We will not relent in our efforts to sustain the peace, stability and development that our communities currently enjoy.

Signed:

Hon. Ajibade Sunday Owolabi
Executive Chairman,
Okemesi/Ido-Ile Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
