The Chairman of the Okemesi / Ido-Ile Local Council Development Area (LCDA), [Hon.Ajibade Owolabi commemorated this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day with a series of vibrant ceremonies designed to honor the bravery and sacrifices of the nation’s armed forces. The events took place on 15th of January every year and drew large crowds of residents, veterans, and community leaders.
The day commenced with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial site located at Ekiti West Loca government Aramoko Ekiti where the Chairman, along with dignitaries and veteran representatives, paid their respects to the fallen heroes who dedicated their lives to the service of the nation. In his opening address, Chairman [Hon. Ajibade expressed profound gratitude, stating, “Today, we honor the courage and sacrifices of our armed forces. Their unwavering commitment has safeguarded our freedom, and we owe it to them to remember and support their legacies.”
Following the wreath-laying, the celebration continued with a community gathering featuring speeches from local leaders and heartfelt testimonies from veterans. The event also included cultural performances and activities aimed at raising awareness about the importance of supporting military families and veterans in the community.
“To truly honor our heroes, we must also take action to ensure they receive the recognition and care they deserve,” emphasized the executive chairman Hon AJIBADE “It is our collective responsibility to champion the rights and needs of those who have served our country.”
The Chairman’s initiatives during the celebration included the distribution of care packages to veterans and their families, providing vital resources and support to those in need. Local businesses also participated by showcasing their services, reinforcing community solidarity and collaboration.
The festivities concluded with a community feast, where residents came together to celebrate unity and express gratitude for the sacrifices made by the armed forces.
